Sequim, Washington is not only the Lavender capital but is also well-known to pilots. Known as both the “banana belt” and the “blue hole” – largely due to this beautiful area being  tucked safely behind the Olympic Mountains to the southwest, which helps protect the area from extreme weather patterns.

Sequim (pronounced “S’Kwim”) as well as the surrounding Sequim-Dungeness Valley, is located off the Strait of Juan de Fuca, north coast of Washington State. Sequim is only a couple hours from the cities of Seattle, Tacoma, and Olympia. It is the gateway to the Olympic Peninsula and numerous tourist attractions.

Famous throughout the Pacific Northwest for its low rainfall and sunny skies. It boasts an average annual rainfall of less than 16 inches.

It’s a beautiful small town with a friendly atmosphere, and a great get-away from the urban areas for a day or two of shopping, hiking, biking, and meeting new friends!

With the annual Irrigation Festival which celebrates how the agricultural community developed over 120+ years ago. With its breathtaking green fields and blue skies. Much like a Normal Rockwell painting ; framed by crisp, white peaks of the Olympic Mountains.

In recent years, the community has drawn many new residents from urban areas both from with in the state and other states; such as California and Oregon. People who found the less crowded and friendly community as a great place to relocate. Especially after being touted in magazines as one of the top ten locations to retire.

Long time residents and newcomers alike can find plenty of activities year round to fit a variety of lifestyles and interests. Fishing, hiking, kayaking, boating, wildlife viewing, swimming, golfing, shopping, beachcombing and many other activities are all available to you. Even John Wayne visited the area and fell in love. He purchased the land and built the John Wayne Marina, which is a popular place for boating and has a great dining facility.
